C is For Ciara Interview Transcript

C: When I was young, I was very experimental. I was always trying something different, always trying to figure something. You know, whether its styling my hair or trying to cook, or.. Some basic things I've always been very experimental.

C: I am the only child. And my mother and father are still together. They've been married for almost 28 years. And they are very silly. They both compliment each other but they also crack me up, like my whole time growing up with my parents has been a lot of fun and a lot of laughing.

C: My father was more supportive than my mother when I decided to pursue music. Mom was kind of like, `You need to be in something a little more concrete'. She was really pressing the college issue and stuff like that. And I was like just give me a chance. And I was finally given the opportunity to go after it. I'm always pushing for it no matter what. I was a little bad in a sense, but still it ended up working out.

C: My first crush was this guy name Dwayne and he played basketball and I was 12 years old. I thought he was so cute. Actually I was 10 and he was 12 and we went to summer camp and I was like "Oh my God, he is so fine". Every time I would see him I'd be like "Uh (sigh)"

C: Relationships are about being vulnerable and it's about being open hearted and open minded. I don't think you have love a person whole-heartedly if you aren't. I'm in love with the idea of love, and when I'm in a relationship I just like to go all the way in. Doing that can also put you in a space to get hurt.

C: I think if I continue to just give a template of my music and my music only, or just a presentation of my music and that only, I don't think there will be any depth to my career. Besides that, I think it's important for me, being in my position, to share real things with people through song because hopefully I can help something through something, and then they also get to learn more about me. That's important to me for the time period that I'm here, I want people to know a little bit more about me than just my music.
